I'm at a loss for words

I just received this email this morning from Apple and I still can't quite comprehend how fantastic this opportunity is. I am so incredibly honored and grateful. Thank you all for your belief and support this year and keep tuned in for more updates!

Hi, Jim and Louie.

I am writing because Apple is interested in including assets from the Jim Nazworthy app "FRC Scout" in an upcoming presentation at Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC 2014), June 2-6, as an example of good design.

We kindly request your permission to use this content as part of WWDC.

If you are willing to grant us that permission, please review and add your name the Asset Usage Permission Form below, then email it back to afitz@apple.com (Alex Fitz).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thanks,

Alex

GitHub repo is now public!

I have officially made my repository for the app public! Please feel free to critique it and maybe learn a few things about Objective-C if you are just starting out. It is far from professionally done and doesn't have a ton of comments and has absolutely no tests, but I look to change that over the summer.

Let's break 1000!!

With the total from yesterday, the app now has 932 downloads!! Can we break 1000 by the end of Saturday?? Spread the word of FRC Scout and don't forget about the iBook manual!

The Manual is Published!!

Read through this thing! It is exceptionally well done by Andrew from team 2232. He obviously spent a lot of his time on this and it looks extremely professional. Really easy to follow and I think it covers everything within the app very thoroughly (so it'll help some people that give the app sub-par reviews because they just didn't see the features).

FRC Scout iBook Manual

Be on the lookout for the FRC Scout Manual that Andrew Breyen from team 2232 so kindly created for me! This thing is exceptionally well done and describes the app and how to work it in fantastic detail. I don't think I (the developer) could have done it any better! Definitely a big shoutout to him and I encourage others to contact me with ways they want to contribute. I want this app to be a project that is an all-FRC effort, making the greatest scouting experience possible!

P.S. Update on the download count. As of this morning (3/22/14), officially 24 days after launch, there have been a whopping 621 downloads!!!!! I am SO elated that you guys love the app so much!

Do you think we could break 1000 by the time champs ends? :)

Finally, keep the app store reviews coming please! The more reviews, the better my self-esteem feels, and the more I'm encouraged to set aside time to crank out some new features and fixes!

Woodie Flowers checks out the app!

I got the chance to show off the app to Woodie Flowers this weekend at the GKC Regional! Woodie said he was very impressed and that he would download it himself! Thank you Woodie for taking the time for me to explain it to you!

Version 1.0.1 is Released!

Version 1.0.1 fixes the following:
  • Labels updating on the bottom of the Scoring page
  • Search function on the Pit Scouting View Teams page doesn't crash the app any more (I goofed on a pretty simple thing, my bad guys)
  • "Download Match Schedules" button on the More page re-enables if the internet connection doesn't work
  • The "Visible" switch on the Insta-Share feature on the Scoring page starts on, as it should be. It was really on from the beginning the entire time. Sorry I lied to you.

As previously mentioned, keep the feedback rolling! I love the 5 star reviews and I take everyone's suggestions into consideration.

For the Dabblers

Feel free to play around on the app and put in whatever fake data you want to test it out and find your way around. You can easily delete all the data by going to the "More" page and click "Delete all Data" button. Enjoy!

YouTube Tutorial #1

Give Me Feedback!

I need as much input from others as I can! Please let me know if you run into a bug or if you have an absolutely novel idea on how to improve the app. I'm all ears.

IT LIVES!!!

FRC Scout is officially live! I realize that there may be some bugs found that crash the app (some of that is because this is version 1.0 and I'm basically the sole developer), but have no fear! Version 1.0.1 is on it's way through the review process as you read this!
